·        Attention all girls who will be trying out for the Sr. Girls Soccer team: sign-up sheets are now posted outside of room 218. Again, Sr. Girls soccer sign-up sheets are posted outside of room 218.  The tryout dates are listed there as well.

·        Jazz band is cancelled for tonight, see you next week.

·        Another great curling game was held last night with Villanova taking a victory over Holy Names High School. Elise Brunet played her last game of her high school career as a Skip that truly led her team to victory. We will miss you next year. Emma Harris and Logan Delorey never gave up and swept their exhausted team to a happy win. The season is finally over team. Take a rest and see you on the ice in October.

·        Yesterday the boys' hockey team opened their best of 3 semifinal playoff against Holy Names.  The team won 2-0 with Mitchel Schmidt, and Jake Rosa scoring goals.  Joel Badour was perfect between the pipes.  A win this afternoon, and the team is off to the finals.

·        Reminder to all those senior badminton players that tryouts begin tonight at 2:30.  Junior tryouts are tomorrow Thursday Feb 22 at 2:30.  Please see Mrs. La Porta if you have any questions.

·        Model United Nations at Villanova is looking for new members to attend the University of Windsor Model UN conference with us; no experience is necessary; the University conference is in April, and anyone can join us tonight after school as the University reps will be here to coach us and answer questions.   Do you enjoy politics, world issues, debating and philosophy; then this is the place for you..... we'd love new members.  Tonight after school in room 131; meet in room 131 for Model UN debate team.

·        Last call for any Grade 11 or 12 student that is interested in participating in the University of Toronto National Biology Competition, there is a sign-up sheet on the door of room 223, or please see Mr. Paronuzzi before the end of the day.


·        On Wednesday February 28th, Canadian Blood Services will be hosting a blood drive here at Villanova.  If you are 17 or older and wish to donate blood the sign-up sheets are on the counter in the LCC.  See Ms.  Russo or Mr. Roehler if you have any questions.

·        A reminder that the Great Start Breakfast is taking place on March 7 and all grade 9s invited are encouraged to attend.   Please fill in your response forms and put them in the box located in the main office.

·        Would those students attending Thursday's Let's Talk Cancer Symposium at the University of Windsor please see Mr. Carosella at lunch for some last-minute forms and information.

·        A reminder to any student wanting to come out for this year's track and field team that there is a meeting in the cafeteria, right now, that you must attend.

·        On Thursday Villanova's Alpha group will meet again. All students are welcome to attend. We meet after school on Thursdays in room 212 and dinner is included for free! If you haven't had a chance to experience Alpha yet, feel free to come out and enjoy.

·        The Junior Boys Basketball team is reminded that their team photo is today at 1:05 in the gymnasium hallway. Please bring your warm up as well.

·        The girls hockey team had their first playoff game versus St. Joseph's the score was 7-0 for Villanova.  The next game is at the Vollmer 2:30 come out to show your support.

·        Please release the girl’s hockey team at 1:45 for their game today.

·        Team photo will take place at 1:00 pm on Wednesday in the gym. Please bring your uniform and warm-up. It should take 5 min. Thanks.

·        Signup sheets for the Sr. Girls Soccer tryouts are now posted outside of room 218.  Again, signup sheets for Sr. Girls Soccer tryouts are now posted outside of room 218.  Please signup as soon as possible.  You'll also find the tryout dates listed there.

·        Badminton tryouts will begin tomorrow Wednesday Feb 21 and Thursday Feb 22 for all those interested in trying out.  Seniors will tryout on Wednesday at 2:30 and juniors on Thursday at 2:30.  Please sign up outside the phys.ed door and see Mrs. La Porta if you have any questions.

·        Rock of Ages the musical is here. Join us in the auditorium this weekend to rock out to 80’s songs like Dead or Alive and Every Rose Has It’s Thorn. The mullet is back so get your tickets from cast members in the cafeteria this week.

·        Any students planning on coming out for this year's Track and Field team should plan on attending a meeting Tomorrow, Wed. at 9:35 in the Cafeteria

·        A reminder to all students invited to the Great Start Breakfast.  Your response forms are due. Please respond whether you are able to attend or not by Wednesday next week.  A box is located in the main office for your response forms.  If your form has been misplaced, please write your name and how many people will be attending on a paper and place the paper in the box in the main office.  All grade 9 students invited are encouraged to attend this celebratory event.

·        Listen up Wildcats...... In curling news, Villanova WON their game last night against Belle River!!! Yes a win! This is a battle that has taken three years to take a victory. Finally our very own Wildcats this year showed Belle River who was boss. We are so proud of you Elise Brunet, Jack Wirag, Emma Harris and Logan Delorey. Last game of the season is tonight at Roseland.

·        The Girls hockey team played in the York University Elite high school tournament Monday and Tuesday. The team went undefeated into the finals despite a strong team effort they finished with the silver medal.   The girls head into their playoffs on Thursday 2:30 at the Vollmer.  Please come out to show your support.
                  The weight room will be closed after school today.

·        Last night the Junior boys basketball played their quarter final game against Kennedy at Kennedy. The boys came out on fire and matched Kennedy for much of the first and went into half time down by 8. Unfortunately, the team could not keep up the momentum and lost by a score of 64-38. Congrats goes out to Alex Boucher, Eric Dinunzio, and Josh Evans who are moving up to Senior next year. Boys are reminded to hand in their uniform tomorrow to Mr. Lesperance.

·        The LCC is only open today to those students who wish to participate in the “What’s Your Type?” event hosted by Canadian Blood Services.   If you are 17 or older drop by the LCC on your lunch and in a few minutes satisfy your curiosity and find out your blood type.

·        In last night's curling game against St Joes, our Villy team was defeated by the last rock in the 7th end of play. The game was very intense as each end of play was completed with rock scores battling equally back and forth. A great defence was put forth by Jack Wirag as skip, Emma Harris as VICE, Logan Delorey in 2nd and Joel Badour in 1st position. 2 games of season play left

·        Lift at Sacred Heart Parish, youth minister, starts tonight at 7pm! Come out to Sacred Heart Church to meet other high school students, for free food and check out our new youth room! We have a ton of exciting games and topics planned for this year so make sure you come out to our launch night!

·        Teachers: Please dismiss the boys' hockey team at 1:50 today

·        Last night the senior girls’ volleyball team ended their season with a lost against the St. Joe's Lasers in a semifinal match.  After winning set 1 and 3 girls lost a final 5th match to end the season.  Coaches are extremely proud of how the team played and the effort that was put forth right up to the last point.  Coaches would like to thank and congratulate the following graduating players for their leadership and commitment to Wildcat volleyball the last 4 years........best of luck to Gina Peters, Kayla Savoni, Breanne Vasko and Captains Julia Pallisco and Fina Pirrone.  Special congratulations goes out to Meaghan Trotter and Brynlee Ammonite for being selected to the WECSSAA second and third team all-star.  Reminder to team members to get all sold tickets for the draw to Mrs. La Porta no later than Feb 14th. 

·        Congrats curlers on an outstanding game last night against Assumption. The game literally came down to the hammer in the 8th end. 3 more games of regular play left this year curlers, we can do it!
